Screening for 15 types of sexually transmitted diseases STD,STIs using the PCR Test method
GD Lab, Medical Technology Clinic, together with Molecular Biology Laboratory, provides RT-PCR testing services.
STI PCR (Sexually transmitted infection) testing is a method that can detect the infection quickly even if there are no symptoms. STI PCR can be tested from urine or swabs from various areas such as the throat, vagina or anus. But generally, we can use only urine to detect the infection.
The germs that cause the disease and show symptoms quickly within one to two days are Haemophilus ducreyi, which causes chancre, Neisseria Gonorrhea, which causes gonorrhea, and Herpes simplex virus, which causes herpes. The PCR test can detect it quickly. If treated quickly, it can stop the spread of the infection quickly. Currently, there are reagents that can detect 15 types of germs:
- Chlamydia trachomatis
- Neisseria gonorrhoeae
- Trichomonas vaginalis
- Ureaplasma urealyticum
- Ureaplasma parvum
- Mycoplasma genitalium
- Mycoplasma hominis
- Candida albicans
- Candida glabrata
- Gardnerella vaginalis
- Herpes simplex virus type 1
- Herpes simplex virus type 2
- Treponema pallidum
- Group B Streptococcus
- Haemophilus ducreyi
There are results of a study on the sensitivity and specificity of PCR testing, comparing samples from vaginal swabs and urine.
